Welcome to the National School of Healthcare Science

The School is part of NHS England and has national responsibility for the management of the educational framework for training and development of healthcare scientists across more than 40 specialties in the NHS, from apprentices to consultant grade. The education and training is delivered by scientists working across the NHS and beyond, and has pioneered national scientist training in the UK, producing scientists who are changing patient and clinical outcomes, contributing to multi-professional working and leading in many areas of innovation and translational research in the NHS.

Accreditation

We are responsible for the accreditation and endorsement of work-based providers to deliver all School programmes. We are also responsible for the accreditation of the higher education institutions that deliver the academic element of all the programmes.

Curriculum Library

The Curriculum Library details the academic and work-based content, and where appropriate the assessment strategy, for the STP, HSST and ETP.

Curriculum Review

The STP curriculum content review began in 2019 and concluded in 2021. The revised curricula will be delivered from September 2022.

End-Point Assessment

We are approved by Ofqual to offer an End-point Assessment service for various standards. We provide assessments that are valid, reliable, comparable, and manageable with specialist knowledge.
